Gas fireplace heating - How Gas Fireplaces Work

Having a heating system is a definite must in any home in countries that experience cold winter months. Without this, the nights can be extremely freezing and uncomfortable. While there are a number of heaters that are used to warm up homes, nothing beats having a fireplace in the house to give you that cozy warmth. Apart from heating up your home, fireplaces provide your home that elegant and sophisticated look and feel that conventional heaters are not able to provide. Nowadays, more and more homes are equipped with gas fireplaces instead of the traditional wood fireplaces of the olden times. While nothing definitely beats the comforting sound of the crackling of wood burning in the fireplace, gas fireplaces are now becoming more popular for two reasons. The first is that gas fireplaces have a lower impact on the air quality of the room as compared to wood fireplaces. The other reason is that they are considered to be a lot safer.
A gas fireplace works using the very same concept that is used in gas stove ranges. A pilot light is installed underneath log replicas in gas fireplaces. This is connected to a gas line. To turn on the gas fireplace, you will need to first open the gas line by twisting the knob until it aligns with the indicator line found on the knob. While holding this, click the red piezo button continuously until the pilot light ignites. Continue holding down the pilot button for another minute once the pilot light starts burning. After which, you can now turn on the main burner of the gas fireplace. Gas fireplaces usually come with a key installed at the side of the fireplace to help you regulate the flames inside the fireplace by simply turning the knob key from one side to the other.
